TB UK274 - SEDEO PRO 70 Degree Swing-Away Legrest Update

As part of our ongoing commitment to product improvement, we are pleased to announce a design enhancement to the SEDEO PRO 70° swing-away legrest.

Identified Issue

• Over time, the swing-away latch mechanism can experience wear, which may result in the latch mechanism becoming weaker and requiring replacing.
• The spring that ensures the latch returns to the locked position may lose tension, reducing its effectiveness and requiring replacement.

Design Improvement

To address this, we have upgraded both the latch and spring materials:

• The latch is now manufactured from ZAMAK 5, a significantly more durable material than previously used.
• The spring and its design have also been improved to ensure a longer-lasting, more reliable locking mechanism.

Both changes result in a more robust and secure legrest system.

Implementation Date

New Chair Orders:

Q-Series powerchairs ordered with 70° swing-away legrests and manufactured from 1st August onward include the updated legrest design.

Chairs in the Field:

This update is part of Sunrise Medical’s continuous improvement program and is not a mandatory retrofit. Existing chairs in the field do not require replacement unless deemed necessary.

However, should you wish to upgrade existing legrests, a locking lever retrofit kit is available. The update can be completed in the field in under 10 minutes.
