TB UK264 - Magic Mobility Range Product Updates

 Please see below our product updates in line with our philosophy of continuous improvement to help improve people’s lives. 

Bag Hooks 

We have discontinued MAG5725 - Rehab Bag hooks (pair) on back canes from our accessory's options on X8 and 360. 

We continue to offer the MAG5723 - Rehab Bag hooks on spreader bar option. 

All rehab canes are now fitted with an upper spreader bar. This is a superior location for mounting the bag hooks as it does not impede the mounting of backrests. We have also found that hanging bags from the spreader bar location is less likely to interfere with other wheelchair components. 

 Tray Table 

We have discontinued some tray table options and replaced those with the new MAG7700 Swingover table with magnet, left table mount on X8 and 360. 

The new Swingover table is designed with a magnet. The magnet connection holds the stem to the table to make it easy to manoeuvre when not mounted to the chair and the adjustable stem allows the user to change the lateral position of the table as required. 

This single table option will be a direct replacement for both the current swingover and slide-in table mounting options, the double stem table mounting option will now be discontinued.

Swingback Joystick 

We have introduced a series of updates for our swing back joystick, these changes will be introduced as a rolling change so not order forms or part numbers are changing. 

• Enhanced ergonomics: The mounting height of the joystick has been lowered by 15mm. This adjustment may improve comfort for some users by reducing wrist extension angle. 

• Slimline underside profile: With a reduced lower profile of 4mm, the Swingback Joystick has improved clearance for mounting with swingaway legrests and other side rail mounted accessories. The slimmer profile will also reduce the area that could catch or collide with tables or furniture during use. 

• Mounting consistency: The mounting holes centres have been modified to align with all our other armrest mounted accessories. 

• Universal JSM compatibility: The Swingback Joystick now eliminates the need for the Mounting plate for JSM (MM-03054) 

Magic 360 – Square Castors 

With a flatter profile providing a wider contact patch on the ground, our new solid 200x50 castor wheels will provide our Magic 360 wheelchair users with greater off-road performance. The wider contact patch means the castor wheel is less likely to sink into soft terrain such as wet grass or mud. It also reduces the likelihood of getting stuck in tram tracks and grates. 

The overall width and diameter of the square profile tyres is the same as the original rounded profile tyres. When scripting a new Magic 360 wheelchair and selecting your wheel options, the castor wheels are included in the drive wheel selection, with a choice of either grey or black options. 

Magic X8 – Motor Update 

A change has been made to all Magic Mobility Motors to increase the size of the output shaft oil seal, the output shaft sleeve and the size of the wheel nylocs from M10 to M12. The need for the inner hub washer is removed. This change impacts the Extreme X8 from August 2023. 

• The M12 nylocs require a 19mm socket. 

• The wheel nut torque is 50Nm ± 3Nm. 

If you are upgrading the motors of an older Extreme X8 (pre June 2023), upgraded mounts are also required and are included in the Motor Kits shown above (MM-07889 and MM-0788). 

Magic 360 – Motor Update 

A change has been made to all Magic Mobility Motors to increase the size of the output shaft oil seal, the output shaft sleeve and the size of the wheel nylocs from M10 to M12. This change impacts the Magic 360 from November 2023.

• The wheel nut torque is 50Nm ± 3Nm. 

Magic 360 – Crossover Wheel Liner 

We have added the puncture resistant tyre liner now also to the Crossover tyres. 

Puncture resistance tyre liners provide peace of mind for users who may be concerned about leaks or punctures when going off-road or across more difficult terrains. 

MM worked closely together with an Australian rubber manufacturer to develop our tyre liners, which are made from an Aramid fibre-reinforce rubber compound for improved puncture resistance. The liner sits between the inner tube and the tyre , providing a robust, protective barrier. 

This update relates to below new order form option: 

• MAG7981 Crossover wheel and castor with Tyre Liner, Black 

Additional Kids sizes on Rehab Seat 

We have added Rehab Seat Depth sizes 305 / 330 / 355 / 380 to both the Extreme X8 and Magic 360
