TB UK252 - Magic Mobility Configurator Updates

01/05/2024

Following customer feedback, we have made a series of key updates to the Magic Mobility online configurator, affecting the Magic 360 and Extreme X8. These are all designed to bring the Magic range in line with our Q-Series portfolio and to make order processing as easy as possible.

Since the introduction of the Magic Mobility range, we have endeavoured to make the ordering process as simple and easy as possible. However, due to the unique nature of the product there has been challenges associated with this which are summarised below:

1.Product Knowledge & Descriptions – As a brand-new product there are no cross-compatible parts with the Q-Series portfolio, and the equivalent Magic Mobility part often had a very different description for something that did the same job. E.g. an ‘R-Net LED Controller’ on a Q-Series chair is described as a ‘Basic LED Controller’ on a Magic Mobility product.

2.Lack of Images – In 2023 we introduced images to the configurator for Active Manual Wheelchairs to help newer prescribers understand the options they are choosing, and for more experienced prescribers to help identify rarely used options. This has not been available for Magic products.

3.Configurator Flow – All Q-Series follow a standard configurator layout to make all prescriptions feel familiar whether you are prescribing a Q200 R or a Q700 M HD. The Magic Mobility products did not follow this standard layout, and instead had their own feel and flow to them. This caused a lot of issues with finding where certain options were, resulting in slower and more complicated orders.

System Updates

Moving forward, we have aimed to address these issues and simplify the entire ordering and prescribing process for Magic 360’s and Magic Extreme X8’s.

  1. Product Descriptions updated to match Q-Series naming conventions:

Moving forward, all of our descriptions have been updated to match Q-Series powerchairs, aiming to increase familiarity and confidence in which options you are selecting when prescribing a Magic chair.

2. Images loaded onto the Configurator:

Due to the Magic Mobility range being a completely new and unique product, there are many options that are not used on any Q-Series product, meaning you will not have experience in what they are and how they are used. To aid with this, we have introduced integrated images of every option code onto the configurator, so for any item you are unsure you can visually understand what that option is.

When using e-shop, you will see small camera icons next to each of the options:

When you click on those icons, an image of the option will appear:

  1. Updated Configurator Flow

One of the main drivers of the Q-Series product portfolio is modularity and cross-compatibility, which is why all the configurators were designed with the same layout and same flow, increasing familiarity across the range. The Magic products were not designed in this way, which causes issues when first prescribing a Magic product as options are not where you expect them to be.

To address this moving forward we have updated the layout of the order forms and configurator to match the flow of the Q-Series products.  This is demonstrated with the new layout having seat cushion, seat sizes and seat modules on its first page, rather than shroud and base options.
