TB UK048 Tango & Rumba Castor Fork Update

07/04/2015

Reason for Bulletin
Following customer feedback and as part of the continuous improvement policy we have made a series of design updates for the Quickie Rumba, Rumba Modular and Tango Castor Fork assembly to improve the lifetime capabilities, strength, reliability and refurbishment costs of the products.

  1. Castor Housing: The distance between the 2 x wheel bearing located within the frame / castor stem housing has increased. Distributing the load on the castor stem bolt across a greater area increases the strength and durability of the component and reduces play that may occur over time.

  1. Castor Stem Bolt and Fork: The castor fork stem bolt design has moved from a one piece machined castor stem pin to 2 separate components (Castor stem (screw bolt 10.9) and Castor fork) improving the strength of the stem and castor fork assembly.

The castor stem bolt is available as a separate spare part reducing the cost of refurbishment or repairs as previously if damaged the entire fork would require to be replaced.

  1. 8” Castor Wheel: The 8” castor wheel has changed improving the quality and reliability over the previous design. The new castor wheel is backward compatible with the products manufactured before this change. The new part code for the 8” wheel is C06278A.

Spare Parts

The old design of castor fork and wheel assembly is no longer available to ensure during refurbishments or service and maintenance repair all products are upgraded  to the new improved design specification.

Spare parts to the improved design are available for products made before the change, and after the change which are in the table below. It is recommended that if you are changing castor forks for products with serial numbers prior to those detailed below, you fit a complete pair.

Note: When ordering spares for forks before date 13/10/2014 (S/N TAN14101720), it is recommended to replace both hands (right and left)
Note: When ordering spares for forks before date 18/11/2014 (S/N S8014113612), it is recommended to replace both hands (right and left)
